Message from Psychology SPC Director

What could be more interesting than exploring how we understand and interact with the world around us? We challenge you to bring an open mind (or does such a thing really exist?) as we seek to understand how people see and hear the world around them, learn and remember information, interact with others, develop through childhood and adulthood, and experience psychological disorders.  Few areas of research are as shocking, humorous, poignant, and enlightening as the field of psychology. We will create some memorable moments of our own by collecting data on human behavior and enjoy a trip to a modern art museum and a high-ropes course in the woods.  We are confident that this will be an experience that will change the way you think about the world.

Kimery Levering, Ph.D., is a full-time Assistant Professor in the Psychology Department at Marist where she has worked since 2014. Dr. Levering studies and teaches Cognitive Psychology, a research discipline within psychology that asks questions about how we encode and process information (e.g. attention, memory, knowledge, reasoning). Her research focus is on the role of contrast in how we organize mental concepts.
