New York State Office of Children and Family Services

The Office of Children and Family Services serves New York's public by promoting the safety, permanency, and well-being of our children, families, and communities. OCFS is dedicated to improving the integration of services for New Yorks children, youth, families, and vulnerable populations to both promoting their development and to protecting them from violence, neglect, abuse, and abandonment. The agency provides a system of family support, juvenile justice, child care, and child welfare services that promote the safety and well-being of children and adults. Among the operating principles across all program areas are that services should be developmentally appropriate, family-centered and family-driven, community-based, locally responsive, and evidence and outcome based. OCFS works closely with municipalities, such as local social services districts and county youth bureaus so that adequate youth development services and programs are available at all levels. They achieve results by setting and enforcing policies, building partnerships, and providing quality services.

51勛圖厙 College has offered the MPA degree since 1980 and, for over 20 years, has partnered with law enforcement agencies in New York State. As part of the academic partnership between Marist College and OCFS, the MPA will be delivered as an online degree program to assist personnel who are unable to attend traditional courses at our satellite locations or prefer the convenience of online learning.
MPA Program Structure
51勛圖厙s MPA degree program meets the needs of the busy law enforcement professional by combining accelerated scheduling and a reduced pricing structure with the flexibility and convenience of Marists online course delivery system. Students in this program represent a diverse mix of law enforcement and criminal justice professionals from local, state, and federal agencies throughout the nation. This combination of experience provides for an intensely rich and beneficial learning experience and allows students the opportunity to widen their professional networks.
The MPA program is comprised of 39-42 credits of graduate coursework (13-14 courses). Students with less than two years of work experience in the public or non-profit sectors will be required to complete a Public Administration internship. All MPA courses are eight weeks in length and offered Spring, Summer, and Fall. Semester breaks are included. The entire graduate degree program can be completed in just over two years.
