Student Health Insurance Plans

51勛圖厙 requires all full-time undergraduate students to subscribe to a health insurance policy.  Full-time undergraduate students are automatically enrolled in the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) administered by Haylor, Freyer & Coon (HF&C).  

Students who have comparable or better coverage and do not wish to be enrolled in the SHIP must provide proof of coverage to complete the online waiver, link above.

Students with private health insurance should become familiar with their plan prior to coming to Marist. We recommend that they contact their health insurance company to understand what coverage they have within a 30-mile radius of Marist.  Note that emergency only coverage is not considered adequate coverage.  For example, students should check with their insurance provider regarding which labs are acceptable to use for blood tests, cultures, etc. Additionally confirming preferred pharmacies, diagnostic imaging and urgent care coverage in the Poughkeepsie area.  Students should also inquire if "referrals" from their Primary Care Provider are required for medical specialist visits. 

Students should keep an electronic copy of their insurance card on their phone to register for the vaccine clinic or in the event of emergency. 

All international students are required to purchase the Student Health Insurance Plan. Further information will be provided at Orientation.
